POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - A late goal by Monmouth gave the Marist women's soccer team a 1-0 loss Oct. 25 in Tenney Stadium.

Monmouth sophomore Erica Murphy settled the ball at her feet in the corner of the box and fired it into the net from 10 yards out with just 3:35 remaining in regulation. It was her seventh goal of the season.

Marist's best chance to score came in the 43rd minute of the match when sophomore Nicole Gerber (Woodbury, N.Y.) fired a shot that took hop in front of Monmouth fifth-year senior goalkeeper Nicole D'Agostino.

The Hawks' offensive effort was led by freshman Rachelle Ross, who had four shots. Marist senior goalkeeper Andrea Wicks (East Northport, N.Y.) kept the contest close by making a pair of saves and the Red Foxes owned a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.

The Red Foxes (2-10-4, 1-5-3) will play their 2014 home finale against Dartmouth at 5 p.m. Oct. 27 for Senior Night.
