Chase Hatton of the Marist University football team was named Pioneer Football League Defensive Player of the Week on Sunday.

Hatton totaled 12 tackles, two interceptions, one pass break-up, and half-a-tackle for loss in Marist's 41-13 win over Stetson on Saturday. In Marist's 28-point second quarter alone, Hatton totaled eight tackles and two interceptions. His first interception came on the first play of the quarter, and Marist scored a touchdown two plays later. Marist also scored on the very next play following his second interception. Additionally, Hatton recorded two tackles for no gain, and had a drive-ending tackle on fourth-and-three for a one-yard gain. On Stetson's first two plays of the third quarter, he recorded a pass break-up and half-a-tackle for loss. Hatton posted his numbers in three quarters of action after Marist built a 41-7 lead.

Hatton was named to the Watch List for the Jerry Rice Award earlier this year. He has earned FCS Honorable Mention for Freshman of the Week of the Week twice this season. Hatton leads Marist in tackles (79) and interceptions (four) this season.

Marist returns to action on Saturday, when the Red Foxes host Davidson at Tenney Stadium. Kickoff is set for noon, and the game will be preceded by Senior Day.
