Red Foxes Honored By National Fastpitch Coaches Association

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The 2017 Marist softball team was honored as an Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division I All-Academic Team. The Red Foxes turned in the nation's 15th-highest cumulative grade-point average at 3.525.

Marist's team GPA was the highest of any of the 11 schools in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

Last season, Gabrielle Kelliher was honored as a CoSIDA Academic All-American, as she became the 18th student-athlete in school history to earn this distinction. Brandi Coon was a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection.

Of the 20 student-athletes on the 2017 team, 16 were named to the MAAC Academic Honor Roll by virtue of having a grade-point average of at least 3.2.

Under the leadership of 10th-year head coach Joe Ausanio, Marist has enjoyed seven straight winning seasons. The Red Foxes have advanced to the NCAA Tournament three times in program history: 2006, 2013, and 2016.
