Marist Football Has Seven Preseason All-PFL Honorees
POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist football team had seven student-athletes named to the Preseason All-Pioneer Football League (PFL) Team, which was released on Tuesday. The honorees are junior wide receiver Juston Christian, red-shirt senior running back Marcellus Calhoun, red-shirt senior offensive lineman Rich Duncan-Murphy, red-shirt senior linebacker Willie Barrett, red-shirt junior safety Wesley Beans, red-shirt junior safety Jordyn Jean-Felix, and senior long snapper Nick Mecca.
 
The Red Foxes' total of seven honorees matches San Diego for the highest total in the PFL.
 
Here is a closer look at Marist's Preseason All-PFL honorees:
 
Juston Christian
  • Two-time All-PFL selection (First Team, 2016; Second Team, 2015).
  • FCS leader in yards per reception, 2015.
  • Caught 48 passes for 992 yards and eight touchdowns last season.
 
Marcellus Calhoun
  • Will serve as team captain this season.
  • Honorable Mention PFL selection each of the last two years.
  • Has rushed for 1,253 yards and 17 touchdowns in his career.
 
Rich Duncan-Murphy
  • PFL Honorable Mention selection last season.
  • Entering his third season as a starter, has previously started at left guard and right tackle.
  • Has played in all 22 of the team's game the last two seasons.
 
Willie Barrett
  • Second Team All-PFL selection last season.
  • Ranked second on the team in tackles (73) and tackles for loss (six).
  • Has appeared in 21 games in his career.
 
Wesley Beans
  • Will serve as team captain this season.
  • Second Team All-PFL selection last season.
  • Last year, led the team in tackles (77) and interceptions (six). Ranked fifth in the FCS in interceptions per game.
 
Jordyn Jean-Felix
  • Named Honorable Mention All-PFL last season.
  • Totaled 46 tackles, three interceptions, two sacks, five pass break-ups, and five-and-a-half tackles for loss last year.
  • Has appeared in all 22 of the team's games the last two seasons.
 
Nick Mecca
  • Second Team All-PFL selection last season.
  • Has served as the team's primary long snapper the last three seasons.
  • Has appeared in 28 career games.
 
On Monday, the Red Foxes were picked to finish third in the PFL Preseason Poll.
 
Marist opens the 2017 season on Saturday, Sept. 2 at Bucknell. The Red Foxes will open PFL play and their five-game home schedule on Saturday, Sept. 9 against Stetson. Season tickets are on sale, and for information, please click here.
