POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Red-shirt junior linebacker
Willie Barrett of the Marist football team earned Honorable Mention from STATS as Football Championship Subdivision Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
In Marist's 14-12 triumph at Georgetown on Saturday, Barrett finished with two sacks and two-and-a-half tackles for loss among his six tackles, which included five solo stops. He also contributed a pass break-up. Both of his sacks occurred in the fourth quarter. Barrett contributed two tackles and a pass break-up on Georgetown's final drive in the game's final minute.
On Sunday, Barrett was named Pioneer Football League
Defensive Player of the Week.
This is the second straight week a Marist football player has earned FCS Honorable Mention from STATS. Following Marist's 38-17 win over Stetson in Week 2, red-shirt junior quarterback
Mike White was recognized.
