11397 Now in his 43rd year, Larry VanWagner is the longest tenured coach on the Marist College campus. Coach VanWagner’s men’s squad has captured 14 conference championships, including the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference title in the school’s first 10 years of competition in the league. The Marist women’s squad has captured 22 conference championships: 18 MAAC, two Metro and two Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference. His squads have combined for 30 MAAC Championships since joining the conference in 1996.
 
VanWagner led the Marist women’s program to the 2014 MAAC Championship as the athletic department collected its 100th MAAC title all time. With wins by the men and women at the H2Hounds Invitational in 2018, VanWagner reached 400 victories for his career. He has amassed eight MAAC Coach of the Year awards and has been named ECAC Coach of the Meet three times.11435

  • Women’s team had an active streak of 40 consecutive MAAC regular season dual meet wins.

  • Graduated from Springfield College with a B.S. and M.P.E. in physical education and athletic administration.
  • Swam under the legendary Charles “Red” Silvia and captained the Chiefs to a New England Championship while earning All-American honors in 1974.
  • A Hyde Park, New York, native, he now resides in Lagrangeville, New York, with his wife Ginny.
