Poughkeepsie, NY - The Marist College men's swimming and diving team defeated Boston College 141-91 in their season opener at the McCann Center Natatorium on Friday evening. The Red Foxes open the season 1-0, while the Eagles fall to 0-2.
Joseph Pilewski (Sparta, NJ) was a double winner for the Red Foxes, taking the 200 yard individual medley (2:00.22) and the 200 yard butterfly (2:00.68). Trevor Charles (Middletown, CT), Matthew Castillo (Jamaica, NY), Pilewski, and Jeffrey Paul (Meadowbrook, PA) won the 400 medley relay (3:34.72). In the 1000 yard freestyle, Castillo won with a time of 9:48.30.
Other winners included Ricky Kapusta (Stamford, CT) in the 50 yard freestyle (21.86), Dan Cerasale (Meridan, CT) in the 1-meter dive (209.10), Brian Sankowski (Ballston Lake, NY) in the 500 yard freestyle (4:55:14), and Paul in the 100 yard freestyle (49.48).
Michael Guman (Stratford, CT) won the 3-meter dive (275.40) and finished second in the 1-meter dive (207.45), qualifying for the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) meets in both events.
The Red Foxes return to action on Saturday, November 9th, when they host Rider at 1:00 p.m. at the McCann Center Natatorium.
