ANN ARBOR, MICH- The Marist College women's water polo team had a tough opening day at the Michigan Invitational dropping all three matches on the day, including two to nationally ranked schools.
In the first match of the day against Michigan State University, the Red Foxes fell 15-3. Freshman Jillian Jefferds tallied her first two collegiate goals for Marist while junior Carolyn Rosler added one.
Against UC San Diego, ranked 14th in the nation, the Red Foxes fell 18-1. Senior Joelle Evanousky scored the lone goal for Marist.
Jefferds added to more goals in the final game of the day against #17 Arizona State University, but the Red Foxes could not come up with the victory, falling 20-2.
Marist returns to action tomorrow for the second day of the Michigan Invitational as they face Eastern Michigan at 8:00am and host Michigan at 11:45am.
