New Rochelle, N.Y. - The Marist men's swimming and diving team (5-0, 4-0 MAAC) extended its conference winning streak to 58 with a 134-103 victory over host Iona Tuesday night. Freshman Jesus Santos took both diving events for the Red Foxes.
Santos was the only team member to collect two first-place finishes, winning the 3-meter platform with a 215.55 score and taking the 1-meter event with a 236.60.
Junior Alec Troxell won the 1000 freestyle in 10:15.86, the first individual event of the evening. In the 200 freestyle, sophomores Nick Chevalier and Brandon Youse touched first and second in 1:47.88 and 1:48.74 respectively.
The squad had another 1-2 finish in the 200 individual medley as junior Kevin Connors won in 2:01.66, followed immediately by sophomore Patrick Collins (2:05.61).
Sophomore Wesley Gardner won the 200 butterfly in 2:05.29. Senior captain Jeffrey Paul took the 100 freestyle in 48.63 seconds while classmate and co-captain Matthew Castillo won the 200 backstroke in 1:55.67. Senior John O'Fallon rounded out the evening by winning the 500 freestyle in 4:57.50.
The Red Foxes, ranked 10th in the latest CollegeSwimming.com Division I Mid-Major poll, are off until December 3-4, when they compete at Loyola along with Colgate and Niagara.
