POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.- The Marist Men's Swimming and Diving squad picked up their second straight MAAC victory on Tuesday night when they downed Iona 135-92. With the win Marist moves to 3-1 on the year overall and 2-1 in MAAC meets. Devon O'Nalty (East Hartford, Conn.) swept the diving events for Marist.
O'Nalty was masterful off both the one and three meter boards as he led the way for Marist who took the top three positions in both events. O'Nalty won the one meter event with a score of 248.70, while he dominated on the three-meter with a score of 285.45. Jesus Santos (Haverstraw, N.Y.) and John Luboja (New York, N.Y.) took second and third in both events.
Marist swimmers won seven of the 13 events in the win. Nick Chevalier (Milford, N.H.) won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 9:56.31, while Joe Pilewski took the top spot in the 200-yard freestyle, posting a time of 1:46.87. Other winners for Marist included Greg Jablonski (Massapequa, N.Y.) in the 200-yard individual medley, Kevin Connors (Holmedel, N.J.) in the 200-yard butterfly and Dan Garaffa (Manchester, Conn.) in the 200-yard backstroke.
Marist will be back in action on December 3 and 4 when they travel to Baltimore for a four team meet with Loyola, Niagara and Catholic University
