Camden, NJ -
The Marist crew teams capped off their inspiring run at the Knecht Cup with wins in three of the six finals in which they raced today. Throughout the course of the weekend, the Red Foxes raced against crews from 50 different schools including top programs from Georgetown, Buffalo, UMass, Kansas, West Virginia and Boston College, among others.
The Marist men placed boats in four different Grand Finals, winning both the men's Varsity Eight and Novice Eight crowns ahead of George Washington in both cases. The men's Second Varsity Eight and Second Novice Eight finished second and third, respectively, in their finals which were raced on Saturday. The women's Varsity Eight also competed in the Grand Final for the first time ever at Knecht, coming in fourth just behind Sacramento State.
The women's Second Varsity Eight won the Petite Final, finishing faster than the likes of Buffalo and URI. The women's Lightweight Eight finished second in its Petite Final with a time faster than Villanova, who raced in the Grand Final. The men's Varsity Four came in third in the Grand Final just behind a stacked Dowling boat and Lehigh's A crew.
The women's Novice Eight had a fast enough qualifying time to make the semi-finals, however, race officials cut the number of qualifiers due to the use of a floating start in the heats.
