POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.-The Marist Athletics Department reported Tuesday that 15 of its 23 programs posting above a 3.0 team GPA last semester.
The top performing female teams for the fall semester were the Women's Cross Country team, who earned an impressive 3.537 team GPA and the Women's Crew team, who collectively earned a 3.406 GPA. The top male programs were the men's tennis team, whose overall team GPA was a 3.280 and the Men's Cross Country team, who earned a 3.120 team GPA.
Also in the fall, women's soccer standout Amanda Kulik was named to the 2005 CoSIDA Academic All-America District I Second Team.
In addition, football player Matt Grande was named to the 2005 CoSIDA Academic All-America District I Football Team.
During the 2004-05 academic year, Marist led all MAAC schools when 120 student-athletes were placed on the MAAC All-Academic Team, which honors student-athletes who have achieved a 3.2 cumulative GPA or higher.
