EDISON, N.J. - Marist freshman Hilary Schroeder (Santa Barbara, Calif.) has been named the MAAC Water Polo League Rookie of the Week it was announced Tuesday afternoon. This marks the second time this season that Schroeder has earned the award and the seventh time this season that a Marist player has been honored with the accolade.
Schroeder played a solid all around game for the Red Foxes in the final regular season weekend. She helped Marist to a 4-0 weekend, as the Red Foxes completed a 10-0 record in the MAAC. Schroeder totaled seven points over the Red Foxes' four games on the strength of six goals and an assist. The 5-9 2M player also drew a pair of ejections and helped out on defense with a field block and two steals.
Marist closed out the regular season on Sunday and has tied the school records for wins in a season with its 23-13 overall record. The Red Foxes 10-0 in the MAAC Water Polo League marks the program's high for league wins as well.
Marist will enter the league tournament as the top seed for the first time in history and will tangle with fourth seeded Villanova in the semifinals of the MAAC Water Polo League Championship on Saturday at 3 p.m. Marist is in search of its second straight league crown and trip to the NCAA Tournament.
