NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Marist men's swimming team competed in their first dual meet of the 2008-09 season at Fordham, in a non-conference meet. The Red Foxes fell to the Rams 129-112.
Sophomore Brian Bolstad (Highland, N.Y.) was one of three double winners for the Red Foxes. Bolstad swept the one and three meter boards with scores of 273.23 and 299.63 respectively. His score of 299.63 off the 3-meter board was a lifetime best mark. The second double-winner for the Red Foxes was freshman Kevin Shoemaker (Saucon Valley, Pa.). The 6-1 rookie won the 200-yd. IM with a time of 1:58.55 and the 200-yd. butterfly with a time of 1:55.23.
Senior Spencer Hartmann (Windsor, Conn.) also won two events, the 500-yd. freestyle and 1,000-yd. freestyle. His times were 4:42.42 in the 500-yd., and 10:01.00 in the l,000-yd.
Bolstad and Hartmann each became two-time double winners in their respective events in the 2008-09 season. The team has competed in just two events this season.
Marist College also won the 400-yd. freestyle relay. The team of sophomore Keith Miller (Missoula, Mont.), Hartmann, sophomore Angelo Ciraolo (Grand Island, N.Y.) and sophomore Joshua Sklanka (Watertown, Conn.). Their time was 3:14.40.
The Red Foxes will return to action when they host their first dual meet on Nov. 1 for a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) meet against Rider. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
