POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist women's swimming and diving team captured its first dual meet win on Saturday afternoon. The Red Foxes defeated the Stags of Fairifeld 177-119 at the McCann Center Natatorium.

The meet was highlighted by the Red Foxes sweep of the top three places in five events, including both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. Off the 1-meter board, freshman Meredith Michl (Delmar, N.Y.) won with a score of 197.17, followed by sophomore Jenna Finn (North Easton, Mass.) and senior Rachel Cuyler (Mansfield, Conn.) with scores of 171.44 and 171.14 respectively.

In women's 3-meter diving, the Red Foxes swept in the order of Cuyler, Michl and Finn who had scores of 198.89, 192.15 and 185.92 each.

Marist took the top three spots in three swimming events as well. In the 1,000-yd. freestyle, senior Sandra Bujalski (Thomaston, Conn.) took first with a time of 10:43.91. She was followed by freshman Catherine Hartford (Merrick, N.Y.). Fountain and Hartford finished the race with times of 10:52.90 and 11:03.95 respectively.

The Red Foxes continued their strong showing in the 200-yd. freestyle as freshman Caroline Skjong-Nilsen (Palmetto Bay, Fla.) finished first, freshman Emily Hammang (Barrington, R.I.) finished third.

With the win, Marist improved to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference dual meets.

The Red Foxes return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 6 p.m. Marist will travel to Iona for a dual meet with the Gaels.
