POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Senior Spencer Hartmann (Windsor, Conn.) had two individual victories in the 200-yd. freestyle and the 500-yd. freestyle on senior day at the McCann Center as the men's swimming and diving team defeated Southern Connecticut 147-91. Hartmann, sophomores Keith Miller (Missoula, Mont.) and Brian Bolstad (Highland, N.Y.), and freshman Kevin Shoemaker (Saucon Valley, Pa.) all won two individual events for the Red Foxes.
Hartmann won the 200-yd. freestyle with a time of 1:43.77 and the 500-yd. freestyle with a time of 4:40.57. He also was the first leg of the 400-yd. freestyle relay team that won the final event of the meet with a time of 3:15.32.
Miller won both of the sprint freestyle events, the 50-yd. and the 100-yd. with times of 22.38 seconds and 48.78 seconds respectively. He also was the anchor leg in the 400-yd. medley relay that won with a time of 3:33.17.
Bolstad swept the diving events for Marist. First he won the 3-meter board with a score of 283.58. In the second half of the meet, Bolstad won the 1-meter diving event with a score of 277.05. Junior Mitchell Katz (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) took second place in both events with scores of 280.58 in 3-meter diving and 252.12 in 1-meter diving.
In the 200-yd. individual medley and the 200-yd. butterfly, Shoemaker finished in first place with times of 2:00.66 in the IM and 1:58.55 in the fly. He was also a part of the 400-yd. medley relay team with Miller that finished first in the event that opened the meet.
Marist is now 5-4 overall in dual meets and will return to the pool on Saturday, Jan. 24 when they will have a meet with UMBC. The meet is scheduled to begin at noon.
