POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist men's swimming and diving team suffered a 161-139 setback to the Binghamton Bearcats as the program hosted a tri-meet which included Siena women's team in addition to Binghamton and Marist. In the Meet, Marist won four freestyle events behind victories from sophomore Steven Vendetta (South Windsor, Conn.), junior Keith Miller (Missoula, Mont.) and the 400-yd. freestyle relay comprised Miller, junior Joshua Sklanka (Watertown, Conn.), Vendetta and Kevin Quinn (Neponsit, N.Y.).
The Red Foxes also got a strong performance from junior diver Brian Bolstad (Highland, N.Y.), who won both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards. He totaled 304.60 points in the 1-meter event, and 305.40 in 3-meter diving.
Shea won the 1,000-yd. freestyle with a time of 9:56.06, while junior Leo Draham (Blue Bell, Pa.) took second place with a mark of 10:15.91. Vendetta claimed first place in the 200-yd. freestyle with a time of 1:45.91.
Miller and freshman Charlie Pataffi (Middletown, N.J.) took first and second in the 50-yd.freestyle respectively. Miller took the top spot with a time of 22.20 seconds and Pataffi took second 22.45 seconds.
The 400-yd. freestyle relay team won its race by .18 seconds over Binghamton's `A' relay. Marist's foursome won with a time of 3:13.98.
Marist will return to the pool on Dec. 4-5 at the H20unds Invitational hosted by Loyola University. The Red Foxes will swim against Delaware, Iona and Loyola in the two-day event.
