PRINCETON, N.J. - Freshman Addie DiFrancesco (Waterbury, CT) raced into school history on Friday evening at the 2009 ECAC Outdoor Track Championships at Princeton University. Running in the 10,000-meter championship, DiFrancesco ran to a second place finish with a time of 36:35.66 after leading for most of the race. She was defeated by Christy Adamyk from Duke University. At the end of the first day of competition, Marist was in a sixth place tie with eight points.
This marked the first time in school history that Marist College had a runner score at the outdoor championships for either the men's or women's team. Also, DiFrancesco's second place finish is the highest placement for a women at either the indoor or outdoor championships. Already as a freshman, she has established herself as one of the best runners in school history. DiFrancesco will wrap up her season when she competes at the US Junior National Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the University of Oregon in June.
