VESTAL, N.Y. - The Marist men's swimming and diving team fell to 1-3 after it suffered a 166-125 defeat at Binghamton in a dual meet on Saturday afternoon. Individually, seniors Brian Bolstad (Highland, N.Y.) and Steven Vendetta (South Windsor, Conn.) and freshman Nick Spinella (Franklin Square, N.Y.) posted victories in their respective events.
Bolstad vaulted himself to a pair of victories in the 1- and 3-meter diving events. On the 1-meter board he totaled a score of 263.63. In 3-meter diving he won the event with a score of 326.48. Freshman Sean Molloy (Slingerlands, N.Y.) finished third for Marist in both events.
In the men's 500-yd. freestyle, Vendetta helped the Red Foxes take the top two spots in the event. Vendetta claimed first with a time of 4:53.96 and junior Patrick Shea (Peabody, Mass.) touched second with a time of 4:56.83.
Spinella rounded out the individual victories on the afternoon for Marist. He won the 200-yd. individual medley with a time of 1:59.81.
The Red Foxes will return to the pool at the H20unds Invitational hosted by Loyola University Maryland. Marist will swim against Iona, Loyola and Saint Peter's on Dec. 3-4. Competition begins at 4 p.m. Friday afternoon at the Mangione Aquatic Center.
