POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Sponsored by the Marist College Center for Student-Athlete Enhancement, student-athletes from the college participated in the third annual White Ribbon Campaign to promote the end to violence against women. Marist students walked around campus in support of the cause during Wednesday's activity period from 11 a.m. - noon.
This year, proceeds benefitted the Grace Smith House. The purpose of Grace Smith House is to provide shelter, apartments, advocacy, counseling and education on the topic of domestic violence among other functions.
The White Ribbon Campaign began at Marist in 2008 as a result of the efforts of football players Dan Smith and Adalberto Ruiz. The event has been held at the Hudson River Valley Campus for each of the last three years.
