POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The first annual Marist Red Fox Trot 5K drew 246 runners to the Marist College campus on Saturday, Sept. 11. The race, which was sponsored by the Red Fox Club in conjunction with the Mid-Hudson Road Runners Club, saw runners representing five different states and numerous age groups.

The male overall winner was Marist cross country/track & field alumnus Mike Rolek from Maplewood, N.J., with a time of 15:17.33. The women's overall winner was Julie Delimon from Morristown, N.J., with a time of 20:51.61. Each overall winner received a $100 gift certificate to the Marist College Bookstore.

The race course, which was designed by Marist Director of Men's and Women's Cross Country Pete Colaizzo, was contained completely on the campus of Marist College. The race started and finished on the east bank of the Hudson River at Marist's Historic Cornell Boathouse. The challenging route also integrated many of Marist's landmark buildings, including Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field, the James A. Cannavino Library and the newly constructed Hancock Center.

The first 200 runners received an official Marist Red Fox Trot 5K long-sleeve t-shirt, while all runners received two tickets to a Marist men's basketball game. The Marist College Band, under the direction of Art Himmelberger, played a variety of songs at the start and finish of the race.

All proceeds from the race will directly benefit the 23 Division I athletic programs at Marist College. The Marist Athletics Department would like thank all the event coordinators, volunteers and participants that made the Marist Red Fox Trot 5k such a success.
