DALLAS - Marist Director of Student-Athlete Enhancement Alyssa Gates was honored with the Professional Promise Award for Region I at the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics (N4A) Luncheon earlier this month.
Given yearly to a member from each of its five regions, the N4A Professional Promise Award honors professionals who serve student-athletes and who have dedicated their energy to the Association and its mission. Regional directors solicit nominations from their respective regions, and honorees are selected by a regional E-vote.
Gates currently serves on N4A's LGBT Committee and Finance Committee. She assisted with the planning of the N4A's Region I 2010 Drive-in conference at the University of Albany. She was also recently nominated to be the Region I Director, which will be voted on this coming fall.
Marist has led the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in Academic Honor Roll each of the last nine years. Over the last three years, Marist has had 42 CoSIDA Academic All-District selections and seven Academic All-Americans.
