This is Marist's first appearance at the NCAA Championships. The Red Foxes earned the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's (MAAC) first automatic qualification to the NCAA Championships when they claimed their 10th conference title on April 27. Marist edged Fairfield by two points to earn its first MAAC title since 2008.
“Competing in the NCAA Championships is extra special as we are the first school to qualify out of the MAAC,” senior captain Eleni Waskiewicz said. “And on top of that, we are able to make a bit of history for ourselves and Marist.”
“We have been working extremely hard since the MAAC Championships and continue to gain speed each day,” Marist Head Coach and Director of Rowing Tom Sanford said. “We are very excited and proud to represent the MAAC conference as the first automatic qualifier for the NCAA Women's Rowing Championships. To be a part of such an extraordinary field of crews is both an honor and a great motivator.”
