IN THE REGULAR SEASON: Marist went 27-22-1 in the regular season with a 17-7 record in MAAC play. This marks the fifth consecutive year Marist has had an overall record of at least .500, and the team's conference record is its best since 2005, when the Red Foxes went 22-5 in MAAC play.
AGAINST THE FIELD: Marist has a 5-4 record against Rider, Canisius and Siena this year. The Red Foxes took two out of three against the Broncs and Saints, and one out of three against the Golden Griffins. Marist is the only team to defeat Rider in a series this season.
TOURNAMENT HISTORY: Marist is in search of its seventh trip to the NCAA Tournament. Its previous six have all come in the last 16 years - by virtue of winning the Northeast Conference in 1997, and the MAAC in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005 and 2009.
HOWEVER: Marist has never won the tournament as the second seed. The Red Foxes were the fourth seed in 2000, the third seed in 2001 and 2009, and the top seed in 2002 and 2005.
FIRST TIME IN THREE YEARS: This is Marist's first MAAC Tournament appearance since 2010.
LAST TIME IN TRENTON: Marist only competed in one prior MAAC Tournament held in Trenton - its most recent championship in 2009.
A RED FOX THROUGH AND THROUGH: Head Coach Chris Tracz is in his 12th year of association with the Marist baseball program. Tracz pitched for the Red Foxes from 2001-05, and is the program's all-time leader in wins, innings pitched, strikeouts and starts. He made three NCAA Tournaments as a player, and was named Marist Sportsperson of the Year in 2005. Tracz served as the team's pitching coach from 2006-08, and is in his fourth season as head coach. His career record is 120-86-1 (.582).
THIS YEAR'S CAPTAINS: Marist has three captains on this year's team: senior shortstop Zach Shank, senior first baseman Mike Orefice and graduate student left fielder Eric Helmrich.
