POUGHKEEPSIE, NEW YORK – The Marist women's tennis team picked up their first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference win of the season as they defeated Rider, 7-0, Sunday afternoon at the East Campus Tennis Pavilion.
Callie Morlock (Golden, Colo.) teamed up with Sabrina Tahir (Yonkers, N.Y.), Karly Pang (Kaneohe, Hawaii) joined up with Claire Schmitz (Scotia, N.Y.), and Elizabeth Brozovich (Port Huron, Mich.) combined with Nikki Rohan (Mountain Lakes, N.J.), as all three doubles teams earned wins to give Marist the doubles point to start the day.
Pang also gave the Red Foxes a strong start in singles, defeating Rider's Kerrin Toner 6-1, 6-0. Schmitz followed up with a straight set win over Rider's Danielle Scrudato and Morlock clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Sandra Penas.
Overall it was a strong day for the Red Foxes as they won without dropping a set. The Red Foxes are now 1-1 in MAAC play and return to action against Hofstra on Tuesday, March 31 at 3 P.M.
