WEST LONG BRANCH, New Jersey -- The Red Foxes began the outdoor track and field season at the Monmouth Season Opener on Saturday with several highlights.
Freshman Matt Baffuto took home first place in the 5k with an overall time of 15:13.33 while sophomore Will Duggan finished with a personal best time of 16:07.24, good for a 14th place finish.
New to the team after playing football last fall, sophomore Josh Taylor began his track and field career with a third place finish in the 110 meter hurdles with an overall time of :15.06.
Junior Jake Hensler took home fourth place in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a final time of 9:51.24.
On the women's side, senior Elizabeth Peper set a new personal best time in the 1500 meter run with a final time of 5:14.29.
Sophomore Fallon Quigley finished seventh in the high jump with a final height of 1.5 meters, while junior Kim Schwartz placed eighth in the 5,000 meter run with an overall time of 19:28.51.
Up next for Marist is the Colonia Relays in Williamsburg, Virginia on Friday and Saturday.
