Men's Track Places Sixth at MAAC Championship

LAWRENCEVILLE, New Jersey – The Marist men's track and field team placed sixth overall at the 2016 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship at Rider University on Saturday and Sunday. The Red Foxes finished with 48 total points over the course of the two days.

Individual highlights included Hakim Cunningham finishing second overall in the 110HH with a school record time of 0:14.50 and Josh Taylor finished fourth overall in the event with an IC4A qualifying time of 0:14.90. Cunningham had previously qualified for the IC4A in the event earlier in the season. The 4x100 meter relay team of Cunningham, Taylor, Joe Cafaro and Tim Johnson set a school record, finishing fourth overall with a time of 0:42.75.

Riley Hughes ran a personal best time of 31:46.42 in the 10K to finish sixth and qualify for the US Junior Nationals. Mark Valentino ran a personal best time of 9:10.71 to finish fourth in the 3K Steeplechase and Dietrich Mosel qualified for the IC4A in the 10K with a time of 31:26.08, good for a fourth place finish.

The Red Foxes also had 18 student athletes named to the 2016 MAAC All-Academic team which was tied with Rider for the most out of all eight schools in the conference. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have completed two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
