EDISON, New Jersey - For the 15th consecutive year, Marist has led the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) in selections to its academic honor roll. The Red Foxes had a school-record 261 student-athletes honored, which was announced by the conference on Monday.
The Red Foxes' 261 student-athletes honored topped the school-record 251 honorees that came the year prior. The previous record before last year was set in the 2012-13 academic year when Marist had 246 honorees.
56 percent of eligible student-athletes for Marist were honored spanning across the globe, representing 25 states and 10 countries.
A total of 2,181 student-athletes have been honored for academic achievements by being named to the 2015-16 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Academic Honor Roll. The MAAC's 11 member institutions and 14 associate members increased the number of student-athletes honored from last year by 101.
To be eligible for the MAAC Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
Following Marist was Quinnipiac University with 219. Fairfield University had 202 student-athletes named to the list, while Iona College added 199. Canisius College had 183 student-athletes make the list and both Manhattan College and Monmouth University placed 170 on the Honor Roll, followed by Rider University (163), Siena College (160), Niagara University (144) and Saint Peter's University (103).
