Full Schedule

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - In its third game in a one-week span, the Marist women's lacrosse team lost a non-conference matchup against the Yale Bulldogs, 19-10, on Feb. 28 in Tenney Stadium. The Red Foxes are now 1-3 on the year while the Bulldogs moved to 3-1.

Freshman Samantha Mehalick led Marist's offense with four goals, including one on a free position attempt, and now has nine on the season. Senior Natalie Bonaroti had a hat trick for the second straight game, converting on all three of her shots. On defense sophomore Hailey Wagner won five draw controls and senior Abigail Witczak made a career-high 16 saves.

The Red Foxes struck on their first possession with a goal by Bonaroti but the Bulldogs were able to respond with three quick goals of their own. Marist was able to retort however, netting two more goals to even the score with 17:00 left in the opening half. Yale pulled out to a 9-5 lead by halftime.

Scores from junior Morgan Jaycox and senior Olivia Pitonzo helped keep the Red Foxes in the game, but Yale's offense was too much to handle. The Bulldogs outshot Marist 45-17 on the night.

Yale sophomore Izzy Nixon led the Bulldogs in scoring, notching eight points on six goals and two assists. Senior Tess McEvoy chipped in five goals and an assist and posted a game-high four caused turnovers.

The Red Foxes will begin a seven-game road trip at Binghamton on Saturday, March 4. Opening draw is scheduled for 3 p.m.
