Rizzo Named CoSIDA Academic All District

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Junior Steven Rizzo of the Marist cross country and track and field team has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Men's Cross Country and Track District 1 Team.

Rizzo was one of 11 student athletes selected for the team from Division 1 colleges and universities in the states of Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont. First-team Academic All-District™ honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America® honorees will be selected later this month.

To be eligible for Academic All-District consideration, a student-athlete must have spent at least two prior semesters at his or her institution, have played in over 50 percent of the team's games, and have a grade-point average of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale.

Rizzo has many career accomplishments including school record team member in the 4x1500m relay that shattered school record by 16 seconds, he is one of only 25 athletes in school history to break 15:00 for 5km (14:56.99, #22 all-time), he was a finalist and scorer in the 2017 MAAC Indoor Championships in the men's mile run and the 2017 IC4A indoor track qualifier and participant in the 4x800m relay. He was a top-5 runner in cross country for entire 2016 season and a MAAC All-Academic Team selection in cross country in 2015-16, and indoor and outdoor track in 2016-17.
