POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - Former Marist women's lacrosse goalkeeper Abigail Witczak and midfielder Natalie Bonaroti will compete in the 2017 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association Senior All-Star Game.
The contest is slated for 11:30 a.m. June 3 on Tierney Field at the U.S. Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Maryland. Admission to the game is free of charge and there will be a live broadcast on IWLCA-tv.com.
Witczak will suit up as one of two goalies while Bonaroti is one of six midfielders for the North squad. The two recent Marist graduates will be the first from the Red Foxes' women's lacrosse program to compete in the Senior All-Star Game during Head Coach Jessica O'Brien's tenure.
A total of 132 graduating seniors from NCAA Divisions I, II and III were selected to participate in next weekend's game. The 44 players selected in each Division have been split up into two teams: North and South. Marist's representatives will compete for the North alongside Alex Fehmel and Riley Hellstein, who hail from Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference rival Fairfield University.
Witczak was named to the All-Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Second Team on May 16 and chosen as the first ever Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Year at the end of the regular season. Bonaroti broke the Marist single-game record with seven caused turnovers at Vermont in the third game of this past regular season Feb. 25. She was named to the MAAC All-Academic Team for the third straight year.
