Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – The Marist men and women's rowing teams have announced their 2017 fall schedules. The Red Foxes will travel to seven separate regattas as part of schedules that expand from early October to early November.
First up, the men's team will travel to Derby, Connecticut to compete in the Head of Housatonic on Saturday, October 7
th. The Head of Housatonic is a 2.7 mile race held at Indian Well State Park.
Following the team's opening weekend, the women will then take part in the Hadley Chase at UMass on Saturday, October 14. After competing in the Hadley Chase, the Red Foxes will travel to Massachusetts to participate in the Head of the Charles Saturday, October 21
st and Sunday, October 22
nd. The women will race on Saturday, while the men will race on Sunday. The regatta takes place on the Charles River that borders the Cambridge and Boston shorelines. The course begins in the Charles basin and the crews travel under seven bridges, around four bends, and it is over 4800 meters (3 Miles) long.
After the 53
rd Head of the Charles, the Red Foxes will race in another head race on their schedule, the Head of the Fish in Saratoga, New York on Saturday, October 28
th.
Heading into the November portion of the schedule, the Red Foxes will travel to New Rochelle, New York on Saturday, November 4
th to compete in the Fall Metro regatta. To cap off the fall season, both teams will make trips to Philadelphia, PA to compete in two new regattas. This includes the Bill Braxton regatta on Saturday, November 11
th and the Frostbite Regatta on Sunday, November 12
th. The Red Foxes November racing schedule including the Fall Metro, Bill Braxton, and Frostbite regattas are all tentative rowing dates.
