WEST WINDSOR, New Jersey – The Marist women's tennis team saw its season come to a close as it fell, 4-1, to the top-seeded Quinnipiac Bobcats Sunday afternoon in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship game in West Windsor, New Jersey.
The Red Foxes battled but could ultimately not topple the eventual champions that haven't lost a MAAC match since entering the league. Quinnipiac started strong and grabbed the doubles point after a 6-1 win at first doubles and a 6-0 win at the third position.
The Bobcats kept it going in singles play as Courtney Nash defeated
Amy Galloway, 6-1, 6-3 to take a 2-0 overall match lead.
Samantha Galu cut the deficit in half winning convincingly at fifth singles, 6-1, 6-4 but Quinnipiac jumped back ahead 3-1 with a 6-3, 6-2 win by Dominique Vasile at first singles.
Quinnipiac closed out the match from the second singles position with a 6-4, 6-2 win by Jennifer Lu.
The loss ends the Red Foxes' season and the collegiate careers of seniors
