Baseball Downs Delaware State in Series Opener

Ryan Cardona Picks Ip the Win on the Mound

DOVER, Delaware - Despite a 2-0 lead for Delaware State after five innings, Marist baseball scored 12 straight runs in the final four to put away the Hornets at Soldier Field.
 
SUMMARY
  • Both teams were scoreless through three innings until the Hornets' Hill and Maisonet collected a pair of RBI in the fourth and fifth.
  • Frankie Gregoire slammed his first home run of the season in the sixth to get the ball rolling for the Red Foxes.
  • Matt Rubayo came up to the plate later in the inning and hit an RBI-double down to left field to drive in Robbie Armitage and tie the game.
  • Robbie Armitage collected a two-RBI single in the seventh, and Gene Napolitano added his first of the day.
  • Nick Cantone hit a two-RBI single one inning later, and Napolitano collected another as well to put Marist up 8-2.
