POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist women's tennis defeated Siena 5-2 Saturday afternoon at the Marist Tennis Pavilion. The women remain perfect in MAAC play with a 3-0 start to conference play and sits on top of the conference standings.
The Red Foxes dropped the first doubles spot, but teams of
Chloe Lant/
Sophia Chavarria and Moeller/Tijani fought back and earned back to back wins to secure the doubles point.
Marist performed well in the singles portion of the match, as Julie Gabay, Sophie Moeller, and Lant earned wins in three of the four first points. After dropping the fifth spot, Chavarria closed out the match with a 6-3, 7-6 win.

"Our second doubles team was behind the entire match and they came back and won that match and it was very critical," Stated Director of Tennis Operations
Gary Sussman. "Siena was picked higher than us in the preseason poll so it was very good for us to get the win."

Marist will travel to Stony Brook University for a non-conference match on Sunday, April 7. The match is set to begin at 12 p.m.
