POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist men's tennis picked up a key 6-1 victory over Quinnipiac Wednesday afternoon. The men improve to 10-8 overall and 4-0 in conference play. With the win, Marist has secured a spot in the MAAC tournament that will take place from April 27-28.
The men set the tone early in the match during doubles play.
Christopher Gladden and
John Oxner picked up the first win of the match from the second spot 6-1. The pairs of
Piotr Sowinski and
Carlos Moreno and
Lars Schouten and
Max Darrington had to battle in their matches, but both picked up 7-5 wins.
Piotr Sowinski continued to show his improvement on the court and picked up the first singles win of the day for Marist with a 6-4, 6-3 win from the third spot.
Lars Schouten and
Kian Yazdi followed up with wins from the first and sixth spots to clinch the match win.
John Oxner came back from dropping his second set to win a set tie breaker 7-6, 2-6, 10-8.
