POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - Marist baseball (14-19, 5-4 MAAC) fought hard but was defeated by Canisius (16-18, 9-3 MAAC) in the rubber-match of the series. The Red Foxes came back from down 3-0 and even took the lead, but the Golden Griffins found opportunities at the plate all game to hold out for the win.

- Canisius came out swinging in the first inning, and recorded three runs for an early lead.
- Marist tied up the game in the fourth with an RBI-double from Frankie Gregoire and RBI-singles from Reece Armitage and Niko Amory.
- Tyler Kapuscinski went deep in the fifth with a solo homer to give Marist a 4-3 lead.
- The Golden Griffins scored a run in the sixth and seventh, and then tacked on three more in the eighth to jump out to an 8-4 advantage.
- Gregoire smashed a two-run homer in the bottom of the inning, driving in Randy Taveras to put the Red Foxes within two runs.
- Marist nearly had a chance to tie the game with men on second and third in the eighth, but Canisius escaped the inning with a fly-out and maintained their lead in the ninth for the win.
- Tyler Kapuscinski went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and a home run. It was his third long ball of the season.
- Frankie Gregoire was strong once again with a 2-for-4 performance with three RBIs, two runs scored, a double and the home run. It was his second homer in three games, and his fifth in the past nine outings.
- Reece Armitage and Niko Amory had solid days as well, going 2-for-3 and 2-for-4 respectively with an RBI each.
- Gregoire leads the team and the MAAC in home runs with nine on the season. For just the past week alone, he has recorded a slash line of .500/.533/1.357 with seven hits, three doubles, three home runs and six RBIs in 14 at-bats.
- Tyler Kapuscinski has continued his stellar play, and now boasts a .390 average over 23 games. He has notched at least two hits in nine of his past 12 games.
- Tony Romanelli leads the starters with an ERA of 3.58 over 50.1 innings and a team-high 45 strikeouts.
- Freshman Zane Kmietek has been impressive in 26.0 innings, allowing only eight runs and punching out 16 batters. He has an ERA of 2.42 to this point in the season.
Marist travels to Binghamton (14-14, 4-4 America East) for a Wednesday afternoon matchup on April 17. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
