Vote For Marist’s Games Of The Year

Twitter Contest Begins June 19 & Concludes August 31

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist Athletics Department will conduct voting for the 2018-19 games of the year via Twitter.
 
Voting will take place @MaristAthletics on the next seven Wednesdays. The four quarterfinal rounds will begin on June 19. The semifinal rounds are set for July 17 and July 24, with the championship round taking place on July 31.
 
Here are this year's nominees, presented in chronological order:
 
Men's Soccer – September 3
The Red Foxes defeated a Pacific team ranked 17th in the country on the road by a score of 1-0. Marcus Ginman had the lone goal of the match, and Ryan Sinnott stopped three shots to record the shutout.
 
Women's Soccer – October 17
Marist broke open a scoreless tie with two goals in the final seven minutes for a home victory over Siena. Katey Samarro and Nicole Sasso scored just under two minutes apart as the Red Foxes locked up a berth in the MAAC Championships.
 
Football – October 20
The Red Foxes rallied from 17 points down late in the third quarter and defeated Davidson 48-41 in overtime. Austin Day set a single-game program record with 440 passing yards, and threw for five touchdowns. Juston Christian caught eight passes for 246 yards and three touchdowns.
 
Volleyball – November 4
Marist earned a 3-1 win at Fairfield, which marked the Red Foxes' first road win against the Stags since 2002. Nikki DeSerpa had 15 kills and 13 digs.
 
Women's Cross Country – November 17
The Red Foxes placed second in the ECAC Championship behind a strong team performance. Maria Smith placed 11th overall, while Shea Bohan (18th), Gianna Tedeschi (21st), Hayley Collins (25th), and Denise Grohn (30th) gave Marist five runners in the top 30.
 
Men's Basketball – November 30
Marist captured the Samson Bracket championship of the Belfast Classic with a 70-53 triumph over LIU Brooklyn. Tournament MVP Brian Parker had 15 points, six rebounds, and five assists.
 
Men's Track & Field – February 16 & May 5
In both the MAAC Indoor (February 16) and Outdoor (May 5) Championships, a relay team captured a conference championship. Christopher Tibbets, Joshua Hindle, Brian Henderson, and James Moehringer won the indoor distance medley relay. Henderson, Moehringer, Andrew Burns, and Tibbets won the outdoor 4 X 800.
 
Swimming & Diving – March 2
Raislan Aiken and Esabelle Gervasio were both named ECAC Divers of the Meet. Aiken and Gervasio each captured wins in the both the 1- and 3-meter dives at the event.
 
Women's Basketball – March 10
Despite not having the services of Alana Gilmer due to illness, Marist never trailed in a 62-52 victory over Rider in the semifinal round of the MAAC Championships. A team effort saw four Red Foxes score in double digits.
 
Water Polo – March 15
The Red Foxes earned a 10-9 triumph over #19 San Jose State in overtime. Anais Mathes scored the game-winning goal in the extra period, and was one of three Red Foxes to have two goals in the contest.
 
Baseball – March 22-24
The Red Foxes scored 29 runs in a three-game sweep at Richmond. Robbie Armitage homered four times in the series en route to earning MAAC Player of the Week.
 
Men's Tennis  - April 10
Marist locked up a berth in the MAAC Championships with a 6-1 home victory over Quinnipiac. The Red Foxes won all three of the doubles matches, and captured five of the six singles' matches.
 
Women's Lacrosse – April 27
Behind a program-record 11 goals from Samantha Mehalick – the last being a game-winner with seven seconds to go – Marist defeated Manhattan 15-14 in the quarterfinal round of the MAAC Championships.
 
Men's Lacrosse – May 4
Marist won its third MAAC championship in a program history with a 15-14 triumph over Quinnipiac. Jamison Embury had four goals and two assists, while Joe Tierney – named Most Outstanding Player of the tournament – had a hat trick.
 
Softball – May 9
With the Red Foxes trailing 1-0 and down to their final out against Iona in the MAAC Championships, Claire Oberdorf tied the game with a home run. Two batters later, Kaley Coltrain raced home from first with the winning run as Marist prevailed 2-1.
 
Women's Rowing – May 19
The Red Foxes won their 11th MAAC championship in program history, and punched their ticket to their first NCAA Tournament since 2013. Marist prevailed in the Second Varsity 8, and clinched the title by pulling away in the Varsity 8.
