Baseball Drops Game Two at South Florida

Reece Armitage Goes 3-for-4 with Two Runs Scored

TAMPA, Florida – Marist baseball fell to South Florida by a score of 3-2 on Saturday afternoon in extra innings.

Erubiel Candelario threw for seven strong innings and struck out eight. Reece Armitage (3-for-4) led the offense as five Red Foxes earned hits.
SUMMARY
  • Marist recorded hits in the first and second innings, but did not score until the sixth.
  • Reece Armitage singled through the right side, and then was driven in by his brother Robbie Armitage on a double down the left field line.
  • The Bulls answered in the seventh. Dylan Buck reached on an error and was then driven in by Julio Cortez to tie the game.
  • Skyler Pichardo took the rubber and went three up, three down in the eighth and ninth to send the game into extra innings.
  • The score remained tied until the 11th, when Reece Armitage reached second and was driven in by Tyler Kapuscinski.
  • In the bottom of the inning, South Florida put together five hits and two stolen bases to score two runs and walk off.
STATS
  • Reece Armitage was stellar, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored, a double and stolen base.
  • Tyler Kapuscinski recorded a hit and an RBI, while Robbie Armitage added a hit, an RBI and a double.
  • Starter Erubiel Candelario pitched 7.0 innings with three hits and just one unearned run. He punched out eight and tossed four 1-2-3 innings.
  • Skyler Pichardo threw for 3.2 innings and struck out four.
