POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist Women's Tennis went step-for-step with the MAAC's top team, but Quinnipiac ultimately came way with a 5-2 decision on Senior Day at Marist's Tennis Pavilion.
The Red Foxes drop to 1-1, and are eliminated from MAAC Championship contention. The Bobcats compete their regular season a perfect 6-0 against MAAC foes, and are 8-4 overall.
- Quinnipiac swept the doubles point. Each score was 6-3.
- In the top flight, senior captain Julia Gabay and graduate Kat Muzik faced Claire Koscielski and Kamilla Nella.
- The second spot featured senior captain Sam Galu and freshman Deana Giambo against Payton Bradley and Madison Williams.
- Senior captain Sophia Chavarria and freshman Jane Bockman squared off against Dominique Vasile and Stephanie Yanosov in the third position.
- Muzik dispatched Koscielski in straight sets from the top billing, 6-1, 6-3.
- In the second flight, Gabay fell to Nella, 5-7, 0-6.
- Giambo was beating Vasile 5-2 in the first, before the Bobcat retired due to injury.
- The most tightly-contested duel featured Bockman and Williams in the fourth position. Bockman took the first set 7-6 (7-5), but Williams forced a match tiebreak with a 6-2 second. In the finale, Bockman fell 8-10 to the Bobcat.
- Chavarria dropped a 4-6, 1-6 matchup to Bradley in the fifth flight.
- The sixth spot went to Yanosov, as freshman Emma King fell in her first-career match, 2-6, 2-6.
