Marist’s LEAP, CSAE Partner with Sports Bra Project

Collections to Take Place at Three Home Events

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist's LEAP (Ladies Empowering Athletics Program) and Center for Student-Athlete Enhancement are partnering with the Sports Bra Project this fall. The organization's mission is to help girls who do not have access to sports bras, and give them a chance to participate in sport.

LEAP will be setting up tables on the Project's behalf to collect the bras at three upcoming Marist home games. These Marist teams include volleyball, women's soccer and women's basketball.

Here is the event schedule:

  • Saturday, Oct. 8: volleyball vs. Siena, 2 p.m.
  • Saturday, Oct. 22: women's soccer vs. Rider, 1 p.m.
  • Thursday, Nov. 10: women's basketball vs. Penn, 7 p.m.

Bras of all sizes will be accepted. Small and medium adult sizes and medium support are particular areas of need.

According to The Sports Bra Project website, in 2021 the Project raised $122,125 in the value of sports bras that were distributed. A total of 36 different organizations received Sports Bras throughout 30-plus events across the country in 2021.

The Project, which is based in Beacon, released its mission statement on its website.

"The Sports Bra Project increases access to sports for women and girls by removing barriers to participation. We provide sports bras to athletes who don't have access to such a basic piece of equipment."
