Baseball Falls in Midweek Against Merrimack

Warriors Use Hot Bats to Get Past Red Foxes

ANDOVER, Massachusetts - Marist baseball traveled to Merrimack for a midweek game on Tuesday afternoon, but was defeated by a final score of 11-2.

Summary
  • A lead-off double by Alex Haba, followed by a one-out single by Michael Golankiewicz, gave Merrimack a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.
  • In the top of the third inning, the Red Foxes used solid plate discipline to get on the board. Niko Amory walked, Nathan Lincoln singled, and Robbie Armitage walked to load the bases, leading to a Gavin Noriega walk that tied the game 1-1.
  • In the bottom of the fifth, an RBI single from Jake Macchi gave the Warriors a 3-1 advantage. Marist immediately answered back following a Brian Hart double and Dylan Hoy single, to cut the lead to one.
  • The Warriors broke the game open in the bottom of the eighth, scoring seven runs on five hits, which was enough to give them an 11-2 victory.
Stats
  • Merrimack had 12 hits, including four doubles and a triple, on the afternoon.
  • The Red Foxes left nine runners on base in the loss. 
  • Nathan Lincoln (3-for-4, double) and Brian Hart (2-for-4, double) had productive days at the plate for Marist.
  • Thomas Crowley had three hits and three RBI's for Merrimack.
  • Eight different Warrior hitters recorded a hit.

  • The Red Foxes are now 11-9 on the season and travel to upstate New York for a three game series with MAAC rival Siena this weekend. The conference foes will play Friday (3 p.m.), Saturday (2 p.m.), and conclude the series on Sunday (1 p.m.).
