Wildcats Take Opening Game of Series

Abilene, Texas - Marist baseball fell to Abilene Christian in a non-conference matchup on Friday night, by a final score of 9-2.

  • Gene Napolitano got the Red Foxes started in the top of the first with a lead-off single. After two strikeouts, Gavin Noriega blasted an RBI-double to score Napolitano.
  • In the bottom half of the inning, starting pitcher Nick Cantone worked out of a bases loaded jam, striking out three batters after two walks and a hit by pitch to keep Abilene Christian scoreless.
  • Things remained quiet until the bottom half of the third inning when Abilene Christian rallied for four runs on five hits, including a double and two home runs.
  • In the top half of the fifth, Colin Mackle doubled and Napolitano singled for his second hit of the day, scoring Mackle.
