NEW ROCHELLE, New York - The Marist women's lacrosse team concluded the 2022 season with a win over Iona by a final score of 15-12 on Saturday afternoon.
 

First Quarter

• Marist's Hannah Spease struck first to open the game 1-0 at the 12:42 mark.
• Melissa Bucher followed with a goal at 10:35 to extend the lead to 2-0.
• Kelly Trotta continued the Red Foxes' momentum with a goal at 10:10 to make it 3-0.
• Iona responded with a goal at 9:28 (3-1), then at 2:55 to cut it to 3-2.
• The clock dialed down to 1:40, Bucher scored to extend the lead to 4-2.
• With a free-position situation, the Gaels scored at 1:20 to make it 4-3.
• Iona scored to tie it 4-4 with a goal at :45 on the clock.
• Shea Thomson closed the quarter at 5-4, scoring her first goal of the season at :09 seconds.

 

Second Quarter

• Iona scored with 12:32 on the clock to tie it 5-5.
• Thomson scored at 8:08 to regain the Marist lead at 6-5.
• Cameron Maruca extended the lead to 7-5 with a goal at 6:32.
• The Gaels responded with a goal at 4:06 (7-6), then 3:15 to tie it 7-7.
• The clock dialed down to 2:04 and Trotta scored to have Marist lead 8-7.  
• Spease scored at 1:18 to enter halftime leading 9-7.

 

Third Quarter

• To open the third quarter, Iona scored at the 14:38 mark to cut it to 9-8.
• At 14:1, Olivia Arntsen scored to put the lead back to 10-8.
• The Gaels made it 10-9 with a goal at 13:24.
• At 9:34, Iona scored to tie it once more at 10-10.
• Trotta recorded her third goal with a goal at 5:44 to make it 11-10.
• When the clock reached 2:44, Thomson scored to lead 12-10.  

 

Fourth Quarter

• Iona scored at 12:22 to cut it to one at 12-11.
• Maddie Schrader responded with a goal at 10:06 to lead 13-11.
• Bucher collected her third goal at 8:44 to extend the score to 14-11.
• Trotta scored at 7:06 to have the Red Foxes lead at 15-11.
• The final goal was at 6:42 from Iona and concluded the game at 15-12.

• Gabrielle Orlando had 12 saves on 24 shots on goal faced.  
• Kelly Trotta led the offense with four goals.
