POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist women's rowing team is off to its last competition before competing in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships. The Red Foxes set out to Worcester, Massachusetts to race in the Women's Sprints, an all-day event that will take place on Sunday, May 1.
 

Last Time Out

• The Red Foxes found themselves in Saratoga to compete in the New York State Championship. The Red Foxes showed their strength, and the team took home the gold in both the Varsity 8 and Varsity 4 races.
• The Varsity 8 team consisted of Katie Moody, Kassie Nicholson, Gabby Insero, Natalia Miklos, Lydia Giguere, Summer Starrett, Emma Jauch, Lauren Muhr, and Ashley Surette. The team took first place in their qualifying race with a time of 6:57.01, and took home the gold to defend their 2019 Championship in the final race, surging with a time of 6:52.00, beating 2nd place Ithaca by 2.4 seconds.
• The Varsity 4 team consisted of Phoebe Castellano, Casey Hodge, Emily Liguori, Jennifer Liguori, and Rebecca Paul. The team won finals with a time of 7:59.04, beating 2nd place Colgate by 10 seconds. The 2V team got bronze in that race, finishing with a time of 8:14.45.
• The 2V 8 team consisted of Abigail Cieplinski/Catie Stiffler, Genevieve Anderson, Caroline Voorhis, Elizabeth Kelly, Avalon Johnson, Molly O'Donoghue, Mary Schone, Hilary Anderson and Francesca D'Ugo. The team was neck-and-neck with Ithaca in the 2V finals, but Ithaca were able to pull away in the final 500 meters of the race. The Red Foxes finished in 2nd place with a time of 7:09.89, only around 3 seconds off Ithaca.
• The Red Foxes left Saratoga with two gold medals, one silver, and one bronze for their efforts, rounding out an effective day.

• The Red Foxes will be back in action in two weeks for the MAAC Championships. This will span from Saturday, May 14 to Sunday, May 15 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
