Baseball Wins Series at Siena as Chris Tracz Gets 300th Win

Hot Bats Power Red Foxes Past Saints

LOUDONVILLE, New York - Marist baseball head coach Chris Tracz earned his 300th win of his coaching career on Sunday, as the Red Foxes took the rubber match from Siena, 10-2.

Summary
  • Gene Napolitano continued his hot hitting with a lead-off single in the top of the first. Following a Reece Armitage walk, Robbie Armitage roped a double to left-center field to score two and give the Red Foxes a 2-0 lead early. 
  • The Red Fox offense stayed quiet until the fifth inning when a bases loaded walk from Donnie Stone set up a Dylan Hoy two RBI-single to make it a 5-1 advantage. 
  • With the bases loaded and two outs in the seventh inning, senior Johnny Decker took advantage of a clutch spot, launching a grand slam over the left field wall to give the Red Foxes a 9-1 lead.
  • In the top of the eighth, Robbie Armitage hit his second home run of the season, giving Marist a 10-1 advantage. 
Stats
  • Robbie Armitage, Gene Napolitano, and Johnny Decker each had two hits on the day to lead the Red Foxes offense. Decker also had four RBI's thanks to his first career Marist home run.
  • Brian Hart, Dylan Hoy, and Donnie Stone singled in the victory as well.
  • The Red Foxes had 10 RBIs and were incredibly disciplined at the plate, earning eight walks.
  • Alex Pansini was sensational on the hill, tossing 7.1 innings allowing just three hits. Pansini also struck out 10 Saints' batters and did not allow an earned run en route to his third win of the season.
Up Next
  • The Red Foxes are now 13-10 on the season and 3-3 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play so far. Marist has a few days off before playing host to Quinnipiac next Friday (3 p.m.), Saturday (1 p.m.), and Sunday (1 p.m.).
