Baseball Falls In Series Opener Against Siena

Red Foxes Comeback Stopped Short

LOUDONVILLE, New York- The Marist baseball team returned to MAAC play against rivals Siena College, Friday afternoon. The Red Foxes dropped the series opener 6-4 to the Saints.

 
Summary
  • In the first inning, Dylan Hoy bunt singled to reach base in the inning and advanced to second on an error. Hoy then stole third base, but the Red Foxes were unable to capitalize in the inning.
  • Brian Yetter allowed two base runners in the bottom-half of the first but struck out a batter to leave the Saints scoreless.
  • In the bottom-half of the second inning, Siena took a 2-0 lead using two hits.
  • With one out in the third inning, Colin Mackle singled to right field to reach base for the Red Foxes.
  • In the fourth inning, Justin Kapuscinski singled for the Red Foxes. Later in the inning, Ethan Conrad singled which allowed Kapuscinski to score. The Red Foxes cut into the Saints lead 2-1 in the top-half of the fourth.
  • Siena plated a run in the bottom-half of the fourth to extend its lead to 3-1.
  • In the fifth inning, Marco Ali ripped a single into right field for the Red Foxes. Colin Mackle reached on a fielder's choice then stole second base which moved him into scoring position. The Red Foxes left the inning scoreless.
  • The Saints tacked on two runs in the bottom of the fifth, which extended their lead to 5-1.
  • To start the sixth inning, Brian Hart tripled to deep center for the Red Foxes. Niko Amory followed with a single which brought home Hart. Bayram Hot brought home Amory with a single for the Red Foxes. Johnny Decker followed Hot with a RBI triple which cut the Siena lead to 5-4 after the top-half of the sixth.
  • In the bottom of the sixth, John Hacker relieved Yetter with a scoreless inning.
  • In the top-half of the seventh inning, Colin Mackle walked to start the inning for the Red Foxes. A double play ended the Red Foxes scoring chance in the inning.
  • The Saints added a run in the bottom-half of the eighth which extended their lead to 6-4.
  • The Red Foxes fell 6-4 against the Saints.
