POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist men's tennis team fell to Quinnipiac this afternoon, 4-3, in a match played at the Marist Tennis Pavillion. The loss evened the Red Foxes MAAC record to 3-3, but they did qualify for the postseason tournament on the basis of holding the tiebreaker with both Niagara and Rider.
Â
" We knew it was going to be a battle, and it was," said Director of Tennis
Gary Sussman. Â "We split the singles, but as is the case in many instances, the doubles point proved to be the critical point that separated victory and defeat."
Â
" Congratulations to both Dylan and Christian for their singles wins on Senior Day, and Alex won his fifth match in league play at five singles. Most importantly, we get to play next weekend in the MAAC tourney, which speaks to the perserverence of this squad, as they endured a winless spring but knocked off Niagara on the road for their first win of the season and took down a previously unbeaten Rider squad. They earned their berth in the tournament."
