POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist men's tennis team fought off a very determined Lafayette squad 4-3 Saturday in a non-conference match played at the Marist Tennis Pavilion.Â
Paolo Flores scored a straight set win at fifth singles to clinch the match, Marist' second consecutive win, the first time they have recorded back to back victories this semester.
Â
"I was concerned about today's match following the emotional win over Rider on Friday, and coupled with Dylan not playing due to injury," said Director of Tennis
Gary Sussman.  "But as was the case on Friday, another great team effort. We earned the doubles point as Tomas and Alex won at second doubles and Paolo and Nick, playing together for the first time, were successful at third doubles."
Â
"In singles, Christian led the charge with a straight set win at one, followed by another stellar performance by Alex at four. Paolo has been fighting a wrist injury, but he played with great inner drive this afternoon and secured the match with his win at five. All six players had a hand in the victory."Â
