Red Foxes Win Conference Record 13th MAAC Title in Program History

GENEVA, Ohio - The Marist men's swimming & diving team won its 13th Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship in program history on Saturday night at SPIRE Academy. The 13 championships are the most of any program in MAAC history.

Freshman Adam Zaremba earned MAAC Rookie of the Meet for his dominant performances in the 1650-yard freestyle, the 500-yard freestyle, and the 800-yard freestyle relay.

Head coach Anthony Randall earned MAAC Swimming Coach of the Year for his efforts with the Championship team. Under coach Randall, the Red Foxes won six gold medals at the MAAC Championships. The Red Foxes reached the podium 15 times in four days of competition.

The 2023-24 MAAC Championship marks Anthony Randall's first championship title.

Marist previously won MAAC championships in 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008.

At the MAAC Championships, the Red Foxes broke 10 school records. The 10 new school records belong to two relay teams and eight individual records.

During the 2023-24 regular season, the newly crowned MAAC Champions went 2-0 in conference play. The Red Foxes defeated Canisius and Rider during the regular season. The Red Foxes earned two MAAC Weekly Awards during the regular season. Ethan McCormac earned MAAC Swimmer of the Week.

  • Kevin McNamara earned gold in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 15:46.60.
  • Kevin McNamara earned gold in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:48.75.
  • Jack LaBianca earned silver in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 15:47.67.
  • Kellen Fletcher earned silver in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:50.34.
  • Quinn Smith earned bronze on the final day in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:45.90 
  • Adam Zaremba earned bronze on the final day of competition in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 15:48.35.
  • James Conable broke the school record in the 400-yard IM with a time of 3:52.56, earning gold at the Championships.
  • Ethan McCormac earned gold in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 48.07.
  • Kevin McNamara earned silver in the 400-yard IM with a time of 3:56.00.
  • Christopher Dauser broke the school record in the 200-yard IM, earning gold at the Championships (1:47.69).
  • Adam Zaremba broke the school record in the 500-yard freestyle, earning silver at the Championships (4:25.46).
  • James Conable earned silver in the 200-yard IM (1:47.96) at the Championships
  • Jack Cimorelli earned bronze in the 200-yard IM (1:49.50), earning the Red Foxes 16 points.
  • The men's 800-yard freestyle relay team captured gold and earned MAAC Champion.

  • Ethan McCormac broke his own school record in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 47.94.
  • James Conable broke the school record in the 400-yard IM with a time of 3:52.56, earning gold at the Championships.
  • The men's 400-yard medley relay team consisting of Ethan McCormac, Jacob Macrina, Kellen Fletcher, and Caden Hardy broke the school record with a time of 3:18.11.
  • Dylan Magda set a new Marist record in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:01.98
  • Christopher Dauser broke the school record in the 200-yard IM, earning gold at the Championships (1:47.69).
  • Adam Zaremba broke the school record in the 500-yard freestyle, earning silver at the Championships (4:25.46).
  • The men's 800-yard freestyle relay team consisting of Ethan McCormac, Christopher Dauser, Adam Zaremba, and Oscar Bjering set a school record with a time of 6:33.81.
  • Ethan McCormac set a school record in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:36.55.
  • Kevin McNamara set a new school record in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:48.75 in the day four prelims.
  • Quinn Smith broke the school record in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:45.47 in the day four prelims.
